Learning FreeNAS Book now on Amazon

My book Learning FreeNAS was published last week but it takes a while for the information to filter into Amazon…

I just checked the Amazon page and all the information including the photo of the book cover has appeared!

Packt Publishing, the publishers of my FreeNAS book have released an excerpt from the book as an article on Local User Management in FreeNAS.

In general, once the FreeNAS server is configured and running, it doesn't really need much attention, it should just work. However, there are lots of different features which can be configured. This article shows how user management is done in FreeNAS.

FreeNAS 0.7 and ZFS snapshots

“harryd” has a very informative post on his blog about ZFS snapshots and FreeNAS 0.7.

Currently it is not possible to use the ZFS snapshot functionality via the Web-GUI. But you can use a script and cron to schedule snapshots.

FreeNAS wins BOSSIE

FreeNAS has been awarded with an InfoWorld' BOSSIE award for being the best free, open source storage server.

InfoWorld's annual Bossies awards recognize top free and open source software, and the second annual list of winners is out now. Bossies are awarded by InfoWorld's editorial and test center staff.

A BIG well done to the FreeNAS team.
