Two new articles including "A Brief History of FreeNAS"

August 12th, 2008

I have published two new articles in the articles sections:

1) A Brief History of FreeNAS – This is a summary of the major changes and new features added to FreeNAS with each point release starting from FreeNAS 0.2 released on 9th November 2005.

2) A Look at the FreeNAS Server – This is an article which I wrote for Linux.com back in 2006. I have reproduced it here and updated it.

Since writing this FreeNAS has changed considertably including:
- Better iSCSI support
- More stable RAID5
- IPv6 support on the WebGUI
- New UPnP media server
- Access files over HTTP
- A DAAP server to support iTunes.
