<description>first of all i want to greet you all a very happy new year!

i got interested in the freenas box because there are lot of unused old hardware lying around at the office and to minimize office expenditure, it was a very good alternative to buying a dedicated commericial nas box.

so a couple of days ago i decided to try it out and i downloaded the latest stable freenas iso file for i386 cpu&#039;s. i burnt it into a cd using nero and tried booting it on a nas box i assembled using the computer stuff available on hand which is a pentium 3 mobo&#039; 256mb ram, 40gb hard drive, cdrom drive and a dlink nic. the hardware seems to be working well and i setup the cmos to boot on the cdrom. when i load the freenas cd that i burnt earlier, it started booting up checking the hardware resources until it was asked to mount the root device. i did what it said and cntinued the ufs and device mounting but to no avail. i didn&#039;t get to the installation console.

i would appreciate it if you could help with this predicament and kindly point out if i have missed something in the procedure.

thanks,
