FreeNAS Project Downunder

Pete Brown (from New Zealand) has written about his experiences with FreeNAS (including photos) on his Bluefish blog.

See that he had lots of spare hard drives of all sizes, a couple of old Compaq slimline pIIIs. He had to find some use for them so he come up with a little project, a NAS server. He decided to play with FreeNAS, the open source NAS server.

You wrote a book named “Learn FreeNAS”, and you said something like the below sentence???

Quote: “FreeNAS, the open source Linux NAS server.”

FreeNAS is based on FreeBSD, not Linux.

    Should we question your expertise?

Gigi, Well spotted! Go to the top of the class… Of course FreeNAS is based on FreeBSD and there is even a chapter or two in my book just about understanding FreeBSD. The problem with this post was that I took some of the text from the author’s original blog entry and I must have been too tired and I missed his reference to Linux.

I have correct the text now. Many thanks! Gary.
